I might just stop uploading here and move all this crap to tumblr. Less hassle, less weird database problems (I hope). And it’s easier to follow!

Balthier x Fenris sketch, Sai
Now that I’m a huge horrible sell-out that only draws for the monies, I’m totally forgetting about the sketchblog. ;_;
This was doodled up because I still need a preview of portrait cg commissions. Actually it’s almost done, but since this is a sketchblog, I’ll upload the sketch here. Anyway, I have a very good reason to draw these two together, honest.

Angra step 1
Decided to do a portrait thing to learn how to paint faces better. Angra is my poor victim.
This is Photoshop Elements, just a textury background with a sketch on a different layer.
Angra step 2
Changed the background color. The skin, hair, etc were all done on different layers to make this step more convenient. Basic blocky shading to get the tones down a bit.
Angra step 3
Switch to Painter! On a new layer on top of everything, set to pick up the underlying colors, I blended everything together with the Just add water blender. Done! XD
After this, I took it back into Photoshop and took all the layers except for the background and merged them together. So now Angra is on one layer.
Angra step 4
Here the actual painting starts (in Painter). I started with the eyes. They look super creepy now, but this is less creepy than what they looked in the real step 4 (which I decided not to upload so people reading this wouldn’t have nightmares). I’m not going for super realism by the way. More my own style but with no lines? Something like that XD
Angra step 5
Still messing with the eyes. I think I’m getting there, the creepy stare is not freaking me out anymore at least. I softened the whites a bit by making them more peach with a layer on top of it, set to color.

Eye at full scale. Drawing really really huge is kind of necessary for portraits like this. In high school I liked to draw an eye on top of all my tests. I watching you teacherrrr~

Smoothness is entirely because of Painter’s awesome blending tools, not artistic talent, haha
Alchemy sketch dicked around with in Painter X
Working off the bottom sketch from this one. Basically blended the entire background to get a rocky or smoky background. And the lady shape was defined a little.
I wish I could paint faces, haha XD
